# - denotes conference opponent
% - Homecoming
@ - Independence Bowl
** - caused Nebraska to be unranked for the first time since 1981
*** - ended nation's longest home winning streak, again
(1) - opponents rank in the final AP poll
NOTE: the 2002 season ended an era at Nebraska. The streak of consecutive nine-win seasons (33) ended, the streak of weeks ranked in the polls (back to 1981) ended, and the streak of winning seasons (40) ended. All Husker fans knew that the streak of dominating seasons could not go on forever. It hurts to watch so much history end, but a few years from now we can look back and marvel that the Huskers were on top for so long. My greatest hope is that the coaching changes will help right the ship and return Nebraska to her rightful place atop college football.
